I Should Have Taken Better Care of My Teeth

On the day that my wife and I were leaving town to move to another state, I woke up with surprisinglyhorrible pain in my mouth. My wife knew what was wrong immediately when she heard me moan and grab the side of my face. She chided me for not doing something about it many months earlier. She is the one who called a dentist in Fremont to see if anyone would see me that day. She also explained that we were on a very tight schedule and didn’t have days to wait. The receptionist was very nice about it and said that if I could come over right away, she would squeeze me in.

I am ashamed to admit that I didn’t even take the time to shower or brush my teeth before I left. It was far too painful to brush my teeth. I tried to do that quickly. I had to stop. And by then, the pain was so great that I didn’t even want to take a shower. I just wanted to run out the door screaming at the top of my lungs. So, I through on a sweat suit, and out the door I went immediately. I had never felt such pain before. My wife says that I’m a big baby, and I think she is right. She handles those types of things much easier than I do. I just wanted it to stop immediately.

At the dentist’s office, they ushered me in to see the dentist right away. I am a grown man, but I was near tears. I knew the doctor could sense that. He told me he would get me fixed up quickly and gave me a big smile. “Don’t worry, you will feel great afterward,” he said. And the nice thing is that I did. When I was done, my wife handed me a lollipop from the bowl on the counter out front. She said that all the kids get one. I had to laugh at that.
